A Soul’s Longing For God (Psalm 63)
A reminder that God is the satisfaction for the hungry and thirsty soul (Matt. 5:6).
- Longing (v1-2)—There is a desire and seeking after God that is based upon past knowledge. The more we learn about God, the more we should desire to know more!
- Praise (v3-4)—He recognizes that God is worthy of His praise and he promises to do so. He both finds cause to worship God and purpose in doing so.
- Satisfaction (v5-8)—The psalmist is satisfied/filled when he meditates upon the blessings of God. His thoughts of God have continued from early in the morning to late at night and there is determination to continued following with God.
- Victory (v9-11)—In expressing his confidence in God, he knows his enemies will be destroyed, but he will rejoice in God. His enemies are those that have set themselves against God; those God will deal with, but the psalmist knows that the ones who will seek after God shall rejoice.
