Rekindle Our Joy (Psalm 126)
A Psalm of Ascent. Possibly written during the time of rebuilding after captivity. A great reminder to be thankful for what we have and trust in God for what we need.
- Remember Your Blessings (v1-3)
- They had much to be thankful for as they looked back at what God had done for them…in fact it was practically inconceivable and brought forth joy and praise to God.
- Do not we also have much that we can be thankful for as a people of God…for daily blessings but even more the great joy of salvation? (James 1:17; Eph. 1:3, 7; Acts 8:8, 39; 1 Pet. 2:9-10; 1 Jn 1:3-4)
- Still Trust In God (v4)
- While looking back they also needed to remember to trust in God for the blessings they continued to need.
- Likewise we must continue to trust in God as we go through our daily life; true physically and spiritually. (Matt. 6:11, 25-34; Luke 9:23; 1 Thess. 5:17; Phil. 4:6; Heb. 4:14-16; 1 Pet. 5:6-7; 1 Jn. 1:5-7)
- Have Confidence In Better Days (v5-6)
- They needed trust that God was going to bless them even yet; this is the faith of the farmer, that he can plant his seed with assurance that he can reap the harvest.
- As Christians we have so much more that we can look forward to; we have not only blessings in this life but an eternity with God! (John 10:10; 14:1-3; 2 Cor. 4:17; 5:1-4; 2 Tim. 4:7-8; James 5:7-8; 1 Pet. 1:3-9; Rev. 21-22)
