Balanced Christianity (Part 3/Final)

Avoiding extremes by using the proper standard, God’s Word

  1. Balance & Others
    • One can be too accepting of others (either in accepting false teachers or overlooking sin—1 John 4:1; 2 John 9-10; Acts 20:29-32; Gal. 6:1; Eph. 4:15) or be too harsh and judgmental (Matt. 7:1-3; 23:33-4)
    • One can be too demanding of new Christians or not expect any growth at all (1 Cor. 3:1; Heb. 5:12; 1 Pet. 2:2).
    • Need to be willing to respect another’s conscience (1 Cor. 8:13) and watch that we don’t bind our opinions on others (Rev. 22:18-19; Gal. 1:6-10; Rom. 14:2-4; compare Acts 16:1-3 & Gal. 2:3-5).
    • Remember to deal with one another in love (Jn 13:34; Rom. 12:10; Phil. 2:3; Heb. 10:24; 1 Pet. 1:22; 1 Jn 4:11).
  2. Balance & God
    • One can highlight a particular characteristic (love, righteousness, etc.) of God and forget that His nature is in perfect balance (Rom. 11:22; 2:16; 1 Jn 4:8; Jn 3:16; 1 Pet. 1:15-16; 2 Thess. 1:6-8; 1 Tim. 2:4; 2 Pet. 3:9; Matt 7:21).
    • One can be unbalanced in regards to His word:
      • Binding/loosing—Deut. 4:2; Prov. 30:6; Rev. 22:18-19; Gal. 1:9, 11-12; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Matt. 16:19)
      • Not preaching the whole counsel of God’s word (Acts 20:20, 27; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Gal. 5:16-23; 2 Tim. 2:22; Titus 2:11-12; Jd 3 & Eph 4:15; Eph 2:8-9 & Jms 2:24)

Remember to seek balance based on God’s Word (Ps 119:160)
