About: Our Worship
As the Lord's church, we endeavor to worship God "in spirit and
truth" (John
4:24.) Therefore, our worship to God includes...
As the New Testament church our desire is to faithfully uphold
God's word that all might know, accept and obey it, The Scriptures
teach:
- The Bible is the complete, inerrant and inspired word of God
and that it is all-sufficient for the purpose God intended (
2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:21; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
- Followers of Christ are to "contend for the faith," but in
so doing, they must exercise love (Jude
3; Ephesians 4:15; John 13:34-35).
- Jesus Christ is the Head of the church and no man has the
right to assume this position (Colossians
1:18; 3:17).
- Jesus Christ built only one church, and his church is
non-denominational in nature. Christian fellowship, therefore,
is limited to those in Christ's church who are walking in the
light (Matthew
16:18-19; Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:4; 5:23; Acts 2:41, 47; 1 John
1:7).
- There is no place in the church for the commandments and
doctrines of men (Psalm
127:1; Matthew 15:7-9; 1 Timothy 1:3-4; 4:7).
- Men and women can know the truth, and by adhering to that
truth, can be saved (John
8:32; 17:17; James 1:21).
- Baptism is a burial in water for the forgiveness of sins,
and is therefore necessary for salvation (Romans
6:3-4; Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21).
- The Lord's Supper is to be observed by Christians on the
first day of every week and only on the first day (Acts
20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:20-29).
- Singing in worship to God is to be done without the addition
of mechanical instruments of music (Ephesians
5:17-19; Colossians 3:16-17).
- Practicing homosexuals, fornicators and adulterers will have
no part in the kingdom of God (1
Corinthians 6:9-11).
- Abortion is the taking of an innocent life, that is, murder
(Proverbs
6:16-19).
- Marriage is intended to be enjoyed by one man and woman
until they are separated by death. And that the only exception
to this arrangement is outlined in
Matthew 5:32; 19:9, namely, that a fornicator may be put
away by the innocent spouse, thus allowing the innocent spouse
the freedom to contract another marriage. All other divorce and
remarriage situations constitute adulterous unions (Romans
7:1-3).
